Season 2025-26

Given that this is the first year of the U13AA program at the community level, adjustments and changes may be required as the process evolves. 
This is particularly the case given the uncertainty as to the number of players trying out, the number of players that will stay with the quadrant program, and the number of players trying out at various positions.

Evaluation Process

• $200 paid on the Registration link within TeamLinkt
• Only two skates are guaranteed with the $200 try-out fee

• Goalies will be evaluated by APEX (external paid evaluators).
• The first, skills-based ice time will be combined with all U13 potential goalies
• Goalies will then have two more ice times with the U13AA tryout group

• U13AA players and goalies will start the evaluations with the U13 Community players/goalies. These ice times WILL NOT count towards the 2 guaranteed ice times for the U13AA tryouts. 
  
  
• Ice times 1-4 (only U13AA)

Some players may be cut from the U13AA evaluation process after each ice time. Players/goalies who are cut will then participate in the McKnight Community Hockey U13 evaluation process. 

• Ice time 5 will be a game against another association. The game will be 90 minutes with officials. This game is scheduled  by Hockey Calgary for September 20th (subject to change)

Some players may be cut from the U13AA evaluation process at this point. Players/goalies who are cut will then participate in the McKnight Community Hockey U13 evaluation process. 

• Ice time 6 will be a game against another association. The game will be 90 minutes with officials.  This game is scheduled by Hockey Calgary for September 22nd (subject to change)

The final U13 AA roster may be finalized. Some players will be cut from the U13AA evaluation process at this point. Players/goalies who are cut will then participate in the McKnight Community Hockey U13 evaluation process. 

Season Overview

• Saturday, October 4, 2025- Sunday, March 1, 2026

• Minimum of one full ice practice per week
• Minimum of one 30-30-30 full ice/shared ice practice per week

• 8-10 dyland sessions have been scheduled by McKnight. This is a team cost

On-Ice Deeveoplemt:

• 10 on-ice skills development sessions have been scheduled by McKnight. This is a team cost

Games: 

• Games will be 90-minute ice times
• 28 league games per season
• Online scorekeeping and statistic tracking (AEHL's website and app)

Included Tournaments:

• Thanksgiving Classic for U13 Elite teams in Calgary
• Esso Minor Hockey Week in January in Calgary (Jan 10-17, 2026)
• City Championships in Calgary (all U13AA teams will qualify)
• Provinicals are March 26-29, 2026

Tournament Opportunities:

• Each team will be permitted a maximum of TWO tournament weekend opportunities where they may request game reschedules to attend tournaments.
• The requesting team is responsible for finding the replacement ice for the rescheduled game.
• Game reschedule requests must be submitted by November 10  to Hockey Calgary. 
•  Teams may attend tournaments on bye weekends as well
